The closest airport to Braga is Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, in Porto. For details on how to get from there to the Universidade do Minho, please follow the link how to get to Universidade do Minho.

 

The easiest way to get to Braga is by using the “get Bus”, which does daily transfers from the Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport to Braga. For more information please access their website.

 

Note that as an alternative, you can take the subway, Line Violeta to Campanhã Station [about 33 minutes, €1.70, between 6am and 1:30am]. From there you should get the train to Braga. Information on train prices and timetables can be found in the CP website. Braga train station is 5 minutes walking distance from the city centre.

Practical information

Participants benefit from a special rate with "Hotel Lamaçães" (10 minutes walking distance): € 35 for an individual room and € 40 for double rooms (including breakfast, parking and internet).

Alternatively, the "Albergaria Bracara Augusta” (city centre) has also a special rate of € 59 for an individual room and € 69 for double rooms and € 99 for a suite (including breakfast and parking in the evening). In the city center you can also consider "Hotel Turismo" (€ 55, single room) or "Hotel Carandá" (€ 34, single room). Also in the city centre, the “Albergaria Sra-a-Branca” has a special rate of € 36 for an individual room and € 49 for double rooms (including breakfast and parking).

Also in Braga the “Hotel Meliã” (5 minutes walking distance), please contact the hotel for special rates.

There are also hotels in the Bom Jesus Mountain area (4km from city centre) which have a special rate for NIPE’s Summer School participants. The Hotel do Lago has a special rate of €38,00 for an individual room and € 44 for double rooms (including breakfast). The Hotel do Parque, Hotel do Templo and Hotel do Elevador have a special rate of € 50 for an individual room and € 62 for double rooms (including breakfast).

To benefit from these special rates, participants should contact directly the hotels and book the room until May 31st, mentioning that they are attending NIPE’s summer course.
